An old dog deserves to have a soft bed, a warm house, and a sunny back porch. But despite surviving until the age of 10 on the street - a feat in itself - Rimpi only had more struggle in her future.

She had been hit by a car in middle age, probably when she was 7 years old. It snapped her back leg in two, which then healed on completely backwards. Imagine her pain as she dragged it around broken without any help. Then to be followed by seemingly permanent disfigurement. She had to hop from place to place for years on the street after that, dodging cars, and searching for food. She gradually got older and older, and hopping around became harder and harder.

We spotted her one day, limping along the side of the road, and we stopped to check her. It was clear that this 10 year old senior lady needed help. We brought her to the farm, and under anesthesia we were able to re-break and plaster her leg in the right direction.

It took a month of healing the bone, and then another 3 months of physiotherapy to stretch the muscles again, but Rimpi could finally use her leg to walk!

But that was only half the battle. We knew we didn't want to release Rimpi back to the street as a senior - after all she had been through she deserved retirement. But who would adopt an old street dog?

After 2 years of waiting at the farm and searching for a family, a miracle happened! Rimpi found the PERFECT family! Her new family adopts ONLY senior dogs. She can spend all day sleeping, or sunbathing, or sniffing around in the backyard. She can even go with them to work!

Finally, after a lifetime of struggle and loneliness, Rimpi is really HOME.
